TUSCALOOSA, AL- Tucked away on a hillside on the shoreline of Lake Tuscaloosa lies a hidden gem: the Westervelt-Warner Museum of American Art.
The museum’s fabulous 18th, 19th and 20th century art is the culmination of Warner’s more than 40 years of collecting. Hundreds of paintings, sculptures, artifacts and antiques are all a part of Jack Warner’s unique Tuscaloosa exhibit, which features of the most significant assemblages of American art found anywhere.
On Oct. 15 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Alabama students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to experience Warner’s collection with the help of the S.G.A. and the S.P.I.R.I.T. campaign.
The first ever Art in the Garden event will allow members of the University family to not only visit one of Tuscaloosa’s finest landmarks, but to also help fund the S.P.I.R.I.T. campaign with an optional donation. Music and hors d’ oeuvres will also be provided.
Contributing to the S.P.I.R.I.T. campaign is easy for students. Students can swipe their Action Card (Bama Cash or Dining Dollars) at the door. While there is no set monetary goal for the campaign, the objective is100 percent student participation to fund scholarships for first-in-family college students.
Alabama’s transit system, the CrimsonRide, will also provide transportation continuously to and from the Ferguson Center parking lot from 4:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.
Students wishing to drive can call the S.G.A. office for specific directions: 8316 Mountbatten Road NE, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35406.
